the last time i remember having shoulder-length hair was back in my sophomore (or was it junior?) year in HS. i know i got my hair cut somewhere between 2001 and 2004, but i can't be sure anymore... (always had braids, and that's kinda hard to do with short hair xD)
anyway.
it has been a good, i dunno, 8 years? i've been waiting for the moment when i'll get tired of my long hair--again.
Again, meaning, back in HS, i had pretty much the same length of hair (down to my hips) even longer i think. Then i just had it all cut off. And the next day, shocked my classmates and 2 sections over. XD ("OMG?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" or variations of "NoooOOoOOoo!!" and one person clearly said "Now i won't have anything to braid/play with! *sadface*" ^^; )
Oh, now i remember... i don't think i had my hair short when i was in UP. coz i got more death threats everytime i'd mention anything about haircuts. xD
so, hair is--was--up to hips. then hair go byebye. :D
see how much i cut off?! :O

i can't stop running my hands through my SHOULDER-LENGTH hair now. LOL. <3
(i kept the parts of the front which i had cut short--when my hair was long. so, front parts are now longer than the rest. kinda hard to imagine, huh? got annoyed, cut it off. ^^; lolz)
random tangent:
back in elementary (somewhere bet. 3rd~6th, can't remember which, but it was during the time Rayearth was being shown) we used to play tag "Rayearth version". Joyce had Umi-hair, although short, so she was Umi. Ricci didn't have long hair, but she was Hikaru and I was Fuu (i wore a headband). Interestingly enough i didn't have glasses back then. Now tho, it's kinda funny to have short hair AND actually have glasses. xP
random mythological relation:
the cutting of hair has always been something of a ritual or symbol. from being 'a woman's pride', to an ingredient in mixing potions, a person's hair has always played an important role in myth and culture. in some places/religions, cutting of hair is forbidden. in others, cutting of hair is a ritual, rite of passage (into adulthood) or signifies cutting of ties (to the past, family, etc.).
add: momo-chan reminded me about hair cutting = a new start. :3
there is also the belief of hair being a container of power (and not just for Samson, mind you) and cutting it takes away that power or decreases it. interestingly, there is also belief that having long hair decreases ones vitality/health.
keeping or exchanging hair from a loved one and keeping it in a pouch/container near you at all times is also believed to keep a connection between you and that person--safety, luck, love, etc. there is also superstition about being able to use someone's hair to curse someone (or make a love potion: aka specific-person aphodesiac).
Oh, and this is the first time i've actually cut (not just trim) my own hair. i kinda wish one of my friends back home were around to do it instead. ^^;
goodbye tentacle braids~ i will miss you~ *waves 'kerchief*
Yo-tan: whoa~ we have the same length hair now! :)
neko: oooh~ <3
Aya-mama: NOO! ;^; I won't allow it!
