It's actually from the Harajuku Lovers Fragrance line. I liked the dolls for Love (hearts!) and Girl (Alice-themed)... but liked the scent of Angel (smells really sweet~~), Music (kinda fruity) and Love (kinda flowery). Baby kinda smelled like Johnson's Baby Oil/Powder. LOL. And G was, i think, too strong or something... (I know Music and Love were a bit strong...) BUT anyway~ They are all so cute! And funny, i ended up getting the one in a school girl outfit (PLAID! xD) and with stars in her hair~~ hahaha~

Got lost coming to LA. xD
Was supposed to ride big blue bus to Van Nuys... it ended up taking me to Union Station. LOL.
Anyway, was picked up safely by Sousuke-kun. (and therefore teased about getting lost during the duration of my stay. )

AX was fun! This was my first con in the US. :D Went with Sousuke-kun and siblings for the first day, then it was just me and Momo-chan the rest.

Got to see Moi dix Mois live. They were awesome. Interestingly enough, I just went there to watch out of curiousity... Ended up cheering anyway. LOL. They were great. <3

Went to Yun Kouga-sensei''s panel. She was fun. When asked why she used cat-ears to signify virginity in Loveless, her answer was that "Cat ears looked cute on little boys, but looked strange on the big boys, so it happened like that." xD

Also went to Toshiyuki Morikawa-san's  panel. He was like a rock star or something. xD Totally used to the limelight. And he talked and shared stories a lot. (He has a pet doggie he was worried aobut leaving behind. LOL.) And someone requested a "Will you marry me?" line in Sephiroth's voice. LOL. Fangirls died. xD There were lots of fanboys too. which was interesting to watch. Voice requests and all. xP

Didn't get to go to other concerts since everything was overlapping. That, and Momo-chan and i were trying to get autographs. Out of three, we got one (Morikawa-san). The ones for Kouga-sensei and Moi dix Mois had really long lines... and even with tickets, we didn't make it--they stopped the line telling us they (sensei and band) won't be taking any more autographs. (; ^;) sad that.

For the rest of the week, we just wandered around the Dealers Room. Was broke by the end of the week. LOL. Took random pics too~ I dunno if i have a fave cosplayer that i saw, (maybe baby Mario? xD) but eveyone was cool. OH! There were 2 YOuko Kuramas! xD haha.

One regret of mine was not being able to cosplay. I don't really have anything on me, so I can't really complain. But i was in Lolita dresses for 2 days, so it wasn't too bad. :3

Spent the rest of the week with Momo-chan and Sousuke-kun and family. Randomly learned to play Rock Band. xD I still suck, but it was fun. LOL.

Oh! And it was Sousuke-kun's bday on the 5th too~ Happy Bday~ x3 and yes, my alcohol tolerance is now non-existent. saaaad. (no, i didn't get drunk. I just couldn't bring myself to drink too much. Maybe coz i ate too much? i dunno anymore. lol.)

Now I am in SF. Kinda weird coz it is sooooo quiet here. =__= Kinda boring, really. Nakakamiss kina Sousuke. Palaging may tao. Tapos masaya. T^T

I watched the musical [FROGS] the last Monday, not knowing anything about it, other than Aoyagi Ruito (TenMyu’s Mukahi Gakuto of Hyoutei) was in it.

Which means I went “Eh? Is that Doori? O_o” (3^rd Cast Echizen Ryoma) and “Are? Tomi?!” (Yamabuki’s Muromachi) ^^;

That and I was surprised I actually understood what the musical was about. LOL. (yes, this still surprises me since I never really got beyond basic Japanese in school xD) So, minus the really complicated sentences, I could understand what the plot was, what was going on, etc. I do wish that I understood all of the Blue Frog’s (I’m so sorry! T_T I forgot your name T_T and to think, I liked his chara too…) sudden outbursts. I know they were puns and word-play stuff, I could get that much xD but since I like puns and word-play and all that stuff, hearing him suddenly launch into random outbursts really made me want pursue the whole ‘I need to advance my Jap skills!!!!111!!eleventy!1’ (not that I’m not, mind you, it’s just…a lot slower studying on my own…if you can even call it studying… ^^;; )

Anyway, I’m getting sidetracked…

So, about FROGS. That was cute. And definitely fun to watch~ x3 I remember reading one of the blog entries for this musical (random link from the dl post I think) that consisted of “I met a ‘friend’ today…we chatted for a while…and here’s a pic!” or something to that effect… and the picture? It was a picture of an actual frog. xD (I thought it was cute, the way they actually get into the whole frog thing and take pics with their phone cams and post it and stuff :3 can’t remember if that was RuiRui’s post tho…I think it was another member…)

My point for posting about this is, I can actually watch a short Japanese musical without subs… and understand it. Yes, I’m still not over the “OMG I CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY’RE SAYING! *___*” (idiot otaku foreigner, you know how it goes xD)

T_T I hate torrents tho… that and all my harddrives (both Kuro AND Sera-chan) are kinda full right now >_> <--idiot who procrastinates burning files =__= (my current choices are: 1) to get myself a new external HD or 2) an external DVD burner… both, of course, involve spending all the money I have at the moment ~_~)

Now, about school stuff… Photography I is still fun, although finding the time to actually develop both film AND photographs is difficult =__= Everything is out-of-class time for the project, and there is only ONE friggin’ dark room IN SURREY CAMPUS no less. >_> (need I remind you that I live FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from Surrey, I only go there like, 3 times a week and the last bus home is like at 8:30pm =__= --note that the lab/dark room closes at 10pm and I’d gladly stay (on Mondays, at any rate) if the bus ran late…) *sigh* Oh well.

BUT! Rin’s pic turned out nice! *___* Although I’m thinking of trying half a filter lower or just exposing it a bit more when I print… *mutters to self* Oh, and, NO, Rin is NOT part of the Project I need to pass… I just printed his pic out since I was getting frustrated since the pics I took for the project weren’t coming out the way I wanted them to. ^^; I seem to keep missing to print Mikhail’s pic tho O_o weird… although I finally got to print it last Wednesday, since I was getting frustrated with my other pics xD and even though I had to print it 4 times before I got one I was happy with (the others had lines and white spots due to the negative being dirty, so I had to re-wash my negatives which means I had to re-do the prints since the exposure time changed coz the negative became cleaner xD).

…….I just realized, this is the first time I actually talked/posted about actual school activities. ^^; LOL.

so i finally FINALLY got to go the Richmond Night Market last Sunday... and enjoyed and squee-ed at the amazingly huge takoyaki being cooked in front of you. xD

Beru-chan (gishkishenh) and i went back on Monday, since it was a holiday and went food tripping. xD what was nice about monday was that there were obviously fewer people! so it was easier to look around and get food too~ x3

so we tried different stuff and the asparagus wrapped with bacon was HEAVEN *___*

then we found the taiyaki stall. *____* and wow~ were they GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD~~~~~~~~ <3 *cue neko otaku-ness* (we should have a picture taken! xD) i love red beans and red bead-flavoured things, but these were...these were warm and and and nummy and and warm and *melts* they were just soooooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooood! *____________*

Anyway, so the "end notes" part mentions how Roronoa Zoro was (is?) called in the tagalog dub: "manunubos" in leu of 'Pirate Hunter' (or 'bounty hunter' to some). Now this word, manunubos is an old word. As in "old" like 'old english' is to 'modern english'. Most of us (at least those of my generation) would translate this word as 'bounty hunter' or just 'hunter' in the general sense. Now, being the weird person that i am, (who tends to use 'old' words others don't seem to use anymore), i asked the older people in the household (aka mama and my uncle) what the word manunubos meant (since they grew up in that era where tagalog was the only thing they spoke). Mama said 'saviour'. Now that threw me off. 'Saviour'? Say what?

Now i'm not claiming to be the best at word-definitions here, but from what i know, manunubos does not have an uberly 'positive' and direct translation. I mean, it is not one of those words that, rather than having a meaning that is plain "'A' is 'a'", is actually a word that has a meaning that is a 'negation' of something rather than just plain 'negative' in meaning. Confused?

What my uncle gave as an example was "dakilang manunubos", where 'dakila' roughly translates to 'honorable' (in the high, authoritative, hero-like, God-sent way). Now this is where i make my point of saying that manunubos has a 'negation of something' kind of meaning. In this context, the word manunubos can be roughtly transliterated as "one who purges", and whether what that person 'purges' the world of is good or bad is up to context (though paired with dakila, i'm guessing he's like a 'saviour' who 'purges' the world of evil and all that, which, btw, is where mama's definition comes in).

I just think all the confusion comes in with the tagalog word tubos which means "to collect (money)" or in another context to literally "pay" for a favor done ("to pay back" or something similar....it's a language nuance, hard to explain in english, unless you've studied the subject of languages, in which case i haven't, if you hadn't noticed...)

I'm not trying to pick a fight or some argumant like that. I'm just saying that, there is really a BIG difference with how one word can be used. Especially the changes a word ungergoes with the generation that uses it. To the younger audience, there are words being used with a meaning that is not the same as when the older folks used it. And this confuses the hell out of everyone. (or at least those of us who depend on the dub and then painstakingly try to convert it into english so we can share the fandom joy with the majority (english is the most-used language, after all)).

So what's my point? Nothing really. Just that, maybe i got a bit miffed at the fact that a lot of things are really lost in translation, epecially in dubs and stuff. I mean, i've had to live my childhood hearing YOUKO Kurama be called "taong-lobo" which is literally "wolf-man". >_> I mean, HELLO? he's a goddamn fox! =__= (i can blame the lack of foxes in the country tho...)

So things like this get to me to some degree. And with "manunubos", it's just too easy for us to say 'bounty hunter' without a second thought, when the word isn't really that, but just a description of what someone does, that is "to purge the world of something". Of course it doesn't really matter, since I use 'bounty hunter' too, because it's the easiest image that comes to mind, and because it's a concept that can be easily understood without having to explain language nuances like i have.

Makes me wonder then, was i lucky that i did not have the time to watch One Piece when i  was still back home? (Hanging out at the tambayan or at the mall with friends was always better than staying home anyway... that and i had afternoon classes >_>) I do miss some of the tagalog dubs tho, at least the older ones as they were really done nicely (swoons at the amazing "old language" scripts! w00t!). Who would want to forget MKR or Slayers and the amazing vocabulary their translators/script-writers had? I sure don't.

someone was kind enough to upload Bleeding Moon on tudou.com (it's a chinese youtube-like place) and as i was on 5/7 of the upload, burimyu freezes on me. >_> of course i had to stop watching after a million refreshes that didn't work. =__= luckily, someone uploaded the whole myu today. xD yay!

anyway, i actually watched the backstage first (on tudou) since that loaded first. and it was the first thing that was linked. i'll have to re-watch it when the dls end, but here are a few things i remember from it: (in no particular order...and since my japanese is very basic, i may have misunderstood or missed some important things ^^; please forgive me...)

They don't voice the characters, merely act out their roles according to an anime episode. it was still quite fun to watch~~ Daiki is a perfect Luffy! x3 so cute! and Tuti being Sanji is priceless. and MoriEiji as Zoro is so cool! xDD SO MUCH FUN!!! XDD *cheers like a little kid*
